The wild and scenic
Tuckasegee River (“The Tuck”) runs through the heart of Jackson County, and the West Fork runs right through Waterdance. Our community is unique in that we offer both river frontage and access, as well as mountain lots with long-range views. The portion of the river running through Waterdance offers excellent catch-and-release fly fishing and a great swimming hole or two. Other sections of the river provide opportunities for paddling, kayaking, and drift-boat fly fishing.
Lake Glenville is just 5 miles south of Waterdance. Lake Glenville is known as one of the largest high-elevation lakes east of the Rocky Mountains.

It boasts 26 miles of shoreline, 3 waterfalls, and 7 islands. Enjoy bass fishing, watersports, and incredible views. A marina with boat rentals, a public beach, and a public boat launch are all located very close to Waterdance.
Jackson County is home to hundreds of
waterfalls, perhaps more than any other county in the United States. Many of these waterfalls are an easy drive from Waterdance.
The local area has a wonderful climate with four distinct seasons. Summer offers a respite from the heat and humidity of Georgia and Florida (just ask all the folks with GA and FL tags!). Winter will see some snow, but generally is more temperate than other mountain areas. Fall is great for foliage, and spring brings out the Mountain Laurel and Rhododendrons. Check out our current
weather.
