About Waterdance

Waterdance offers the following features and amenities for the use of its owners and their guests.

Access Gate

Waterdance has an electric gate with an electronic keypad. The system allows each owner to have their own unique access code, including codes for family members and contractors.  The system also allows owners to “buzz in” their guests.

Utilities

Waterdance utilities consist of underground electrical, phone lines, and water (including fire hydrants) running throughout the community. Internet is provided via the Starlink satellite system.

Waterdance has its own water system consisting of storage tanks, pumps, and distribution lines to each lot and the amenities. This system allows property owners to avoid costly and unsure drilling and maintenance of individual wells, and provides consistent, fresh, non-sulphur mountain water to each home. The community water system is unique for a mountain community in that it also serves fire hydrants located throughout Waterdance. This helps to increase safety and reduce insurance costs for the owners.

Waterdance lots have their own septic systems.

Amenities

Pavilions

Waterdance has two pavilions available for the use of its owners and guests. Both pavilions can be reserved for private events based on availability.

River Pavilion is a post and beam structure consisting of antique wood and native stone.  It sits on the banks of the Tuckasegee River at an elevation of 2,400'. The view from the pavilion and deck is of a beautiful stretch of the river. This pavilion features a large covered seating area with picnic tables, a large stacked stone wood-burning fireplace, an open deck overlooking the river, and an outdoor kitchen with island seating. There is a restroom (which will be operational once the water system is activated). A wide stone path leads down to the banks of the river. The River Pavilion is accessible via our paved roads and has a large parking area. Maintenance and use of this pavilion is shared with Fish Camp, a privately owned property within the borders of Waterdance. Fish Camp currently consists of one completed home (often available for rent) along with land for additional future homes. The owners and guests of Fish Camp also have use of this pavilion.

Overlook Pavilion is another beautiful post and beam structure consisting of antique wood and native stone.  It sits at 3,500' and offers incredible long-range views to the east, south, and southwest from a stone outcropping just below the pavilion. This pavilion features a covered seating area with picnic tables and a large stacked stone wood-burning fireplace. There is a separate indoor room with its own stone fireplace and a sink, making a great setting for small parties. There is a restroom (which will be operational once the water system is activated). The Overlook Pavilion is accessible via our paved roads. There is a parking area and a wide mulch pathway leading up to the pavilion.

Trails

Waterdance has an elaborate trail system running along the river, at the waterfall, along Grassy Creek, and at the overlook. Sections of the trail network are marked and maintained, while others are rustic.

Waterfall

Waterdance has a beautiful, natural waterfall right along its main road, and adjacent to one of the key access points to the trail system.

Covered Bridge

Waterdance’s covered bridge across the Tuckasegee River is a local landmark along Highway 107. Drive under the bridge to reach the front entry gate.

The Boulders

Waterdance has an area known as “The Boulders” featuring several large, dramatic boulders up to 40’ in height.

A Fly Fishing Community

The West Fork of the Tuckasegee River runs right through Waterdance and provides many great spots for fly fishing for naturally reproducing Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. We are a sustainable catch and release community. This stretch of river is beautiful with a variety of waters, secluded spots, and great scenery to enjoy. For information on the fishing scene at Waterdance, please contact board president Tom Wright using the “Contact Us” page of this website.
