Outdoor Life in Waterdance

Glenville Lake

At 3,500 feet and encompassing 1,470 acres, Lake Glenville is the highest elevation lake east of the Mississippi River and one of the 10 most beautiful lakes in America. Just a few miles from the Waterdance property, the pristine clear waters are perfect for just about any water recreation activity. Enjoy swimming, sunbathing, water skiing or fishing. The lake hosts a large variety of freshwater fish including small and largemouth bass, walleye, trout and bream.

Nantahala National Forest

Encompassing the Nantahala Gorge and the Nantahala River, this national forest provides access to a plethora of outdoor activities. From world-class whitewater rafting and kayak instruction at the famed Nantahala Outdoor Center (http://www.noc.com/) to horseback riding to guided fly-fishing trips, this forest appeals to the adventurous in all of us.

Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail is a 2,175-mile National Scenic Trail extending from Maine to Georgia. The trail passes through North Carolina and the Nantahala Gorge, less than a half-hour from Waterdance. Dramatic scenery—including 4,000-foot gaps and 6,000-foot peaks, massive rhododendron gardens and panoramic views of open grassy balds—highlight the awesome beauty of this region.
